Dr. Shannon Scott
Dr. Shannon Scott is a cognitive psychologist, professor, and Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at TWU. As a mother of two grown children and now several grandchildren, she has experienced the challenges of single motherhood and leadership within her career. A primary goal of her work is to empower women to successfully navigate leadership roles and challenges.
Lisa Rosen
Dr. Lisa Rosen is a developmental psychologist and director of the undergraduate psychology program. As a mother of two young children, she is passionate about the Mothers Lead the Way Project, which will provide important information on how the pandemic affected mothers’ careers and leadership opportunities as well as develop methods that would help women to narrow the leadership gap.
Dr. Shazia Ahmed
Dr. Shazia Ahmed is Clinical Professor in the department of Biology. As a single mother of two young ladies she is aware of career challenges women face and is committed to assisting mothers to become successful leaders with the help of Mothers Lead the Way Project.

Graduate Research Assistants:
Roshni Shukla, M.A.
Roshni is a doctoral candidate in TWU’s Counseling Psychology program. She has been a part of the MLW team since January 2021. As a budding psychologist, she is passionate about engaging in social justice efforts to support marginalized individuals. Roshni is committed to discovering ways to support and provide accessible resources to women, especially working mothers, in achieving their ambitions. She is proud to be a member of the MLW team and to help facilitate the development of future women leaders in the workforce.
Joel Flores
Joel Flores is a doctoral student in the School Psychology program at Texas Woman’s University. He has been a member of the MLW team since June 2021. His research interests include understanding how schools and service providers can better support students experiencing housing instability.
Undergraduate Research Assistants:
Melody Hardman
Melody Hardman (she/her) is an undergraduate student at Texas Woman’s University, majoring in psychology and minoring in family studies. Her research interests include variables affecting members of the LGBTQ+ community, specifically family dynamics within the community. She joined the Mothers Lead the Way Project in June 2023.
Tegan Manders
Tegan Manders (she/her) is a fourth-year psychology student with a criminal justice minor at Texas Woman’s University. She is interested in child psychology and how social environments influence development, specifically for at-risk youth. She has been with the Mothers Lead the Way project since June 2023.
Haley Berka
Hayley Berka is a senior at Texas Woman’s University and an undergraduate research assistant from Saginaw, Michigan. Haley is currently pursuing a B.S. in psychology at Texas Woman’s University, and has previously received her A.A. from Tarrant County College. She has resided in Texas for ten years and considers herself a born-again Texan. Hayley’s psychological interests include schizophrenia, child resiliency, the emotional stress put upon those in the service industry, the positive and negative experiences of religion, and the uplifting of working mothers and all women in our patriarchal society.
